MY LIFE has been one small hop after another, each one bounding towards some unknown destination. I’ve competed in big-mountain snowboard competitions, and take up racing downhill bikes—a literal jump quite often! But the biggest leap I’ve taken was the decision leading to the creation of my company and my future. 

Halfway through the second to last semester of law school, I took a look at my life and realized I would never be happy working in an office, in a career about which I felt no passion. Looking out my Salt Lake City office window every day at Mount Superior made me realize I needed to be in the mountains, and actively involved in the sports and the lifestyle that has been my passion my entire life. The answer had been slowly building in my head, but the prospect of venturing out on my own was truly terrifying. 

Finally… I took the leap. I quit my job, and the legal profession, and founded my company—Defiant Sports Management. Helping professional athletes be successful in their action sports careers is fulfilling and enables me to use my legal training and my background in competitive sports. While knowing that my future and my success depends entirely on my actions is scary, jumping into a career I knew I would love is well worth the fear. 

Since founding my company, I have been blessed with considerable success, but an equally incredible outcome of my decision has been my ability to work with women athletes. My decision to jump has influenced ambitious women athletes to explore the possibilities of taking their career to the next level… even more jumps!
