Twenty Ladies gathered near the base of the tram at Alyeska before the mountain opened. We were able to meet new people and discuss everyones’ goals for the day. We geared up and were full of stoke when we were spit out into a classic Alyeska low visibility cloud.
Following each others bright colors and toutous we found clarity on the lower mountain. It was here we were able to focus on steep turn skills and finding our edges while maintaining a ride on our skis. Maeve Lavtar and Lanny Mansen were both a huge help in getting the word out and keeping spirits high through the classic tough conditions we tend to face at Alyeska.
January 20th was a busy day for the resort which hosted events with local racing clubs and the Anchorage College Team. We spread the spirit of Womens Ski Day with cheer and connected with these gals riding along side them on the mountain and on the chair lifts!
