SheJumps is happy to announce a partial scholarship to the 2015 Alpine Finishing School in honor of our fallen friend and inspiration, Liz Daley. Liz was a professional snowboarder, alpine climber, and guide who perished in an avalanche last September in South America. The loss of this bright young woman touched so many, and reminds us all to live life to the fullest–which is exactly what Liz was known for doing perfectly. From wild dance parties to epic climbing and splitboarding adventures wherever her heart took her–she was truly an embodiment of what it means to be a SheJumper and, in general, a phenomenal human being.
The Alpine Finishing School is a course designed to help female backcountry enthusiasts learn to be more self-sufficient in the mountains. In this way, we hope that this scholarship can help a woman gain an advantage at pursuing life in the mountains at more proficient and advanced levels while lessening the financial burden of such expensive sports. The scholarship will be for $1400 towards the tuition of the course ($2650). The application is live through February 1, 2015 and a winner will be announced before February 14th, 2015. Full payment of the remainder of the tuition is due March 15, 2015. You can apply for the scholarship at lizdaleyscholarship.eventbrite.com
