On February 10th, a group of ladies got together at Alpental – one of the locations at The Summit at Snoqulamie. We were gifted with clear blue skies and warm sun. After a few weeks of continuous rain, it was truly a miracle to see blue sky!
Registration was set up right on the main patio, giving everyone an opportunity to learn more about SheJumps. The sun warmed our hearts and the stoke was high! Lots of magical creates started to emerge around the hill.
Big thanks to the Alpental ski school for setting up beginner specific ski and snowboarding lessons, the event got 14 ladies our skiing and snowboarding! 11 of those ladies have never been skiing before and all walked away that day with huge smiles on their faces.
There was also a freeride clinic happening that day, led by one of our Ambassadors Krystin. Below 2 of the 10 ladies that attended give a brief overview of the day!
“Krystin Norman led a group of advanced & expert ladies on a freeride clinic focusing on improving steep skiing and style. They spent the morning honing their balance and edging on the challenging snow on Armstrong express before heading up to Chair 2 to practice line choice and airs on the softer, sunny snow conditions up top. After a quick lunch break complete with sandwiches and yerba mattes the ladies headed up to ski International where the icy upper mountain put the balance and edging skills covered in the morning session to the test. The run was daunting for some, but the supportive and positive atmosphere of the group helped immensely, one woman even said afterward “I never would have done that run if I wasn’t in this group”. As if this weren’t enough, Krystin also explained how to approach doing jumps and airs, focusing on first examining the landing as well as taking off in a forward, balanced stance. The ladies ended the day with a final run off Chair 2 where they could practice the skills they had learned. The progression was tangible and the enthusiasm infectious. Everybody went home happy and tired, but most importantly they went home better skiers.”

“The moment I read about the Free Ride Clinic opportunity with SheJumps, I knew I had to do it and I’m so pumped that I did! Not only did I get the awesome opportunity to learn about Free Riding and how to improve my technique and approach to the mountain, but I got to ski with incredibly talented and encouraging women and meet some future ski buddies to hang with. 10/10 would and will do again.”

The day was wrapped up by a avalanche dog demo followed by a raffle with superb prizes! What a fun way to spend a Saturday!
