Girls Can Do!

Written by: Cristy Watson, Regional Team Director

The Southeast SheJumps team was thrilled when we were asked to be a part of the Girls Can Do conference in Washington, D.C. And we were even more thrilled when the doors opened and the Warner Theater was flooded with girls eager to take on the day.

The day opened with a welcome message from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Sarah and I had a blast talking to young girls, their moms, dads, teachers, and mentors – exposing them all to the possibility and adventure that the outdoors hold. Our day was made watching girl after girl light up when she envisioned herself building a shelter, or skiing for the first time!

We’re looking forward to seeing the newly anointed D.C. Girafficorns take on the outdoors. And we hope to see them all at our upcoming events!

We had a first row seat to one of the attendees getting interviewed for the news - she did great!

Thank you to Girls Can Do for asking SheJumps to be a part of the event and for welcoming us into their Girl Partner Network!
