On December 14th, IWSD (International Women’s Ski Day) took the Northeast by storm, with at least 5 events to choose from the women in the Northeast had some great opportunities to get together and get psyched for the 2013/2014.season.
With the early season date, it was uncertain whether Magic Mountain in southern VT would be open. As a smaller cooperatively owned mountain, they often need to wait for a big dump to get the season going so Tracy Remelius, Northeast Regional Coordinator, had a back up plan-a winter hike up Glebe Mountain’s 1700’ vertical. In single digit weather, the “sister’s of steeps” proved themselves to be hardy New Englanders. When Magic didn’t open, they said-no lift’s no problem.
During the three hour hike we got to cheer each other on, check out Magic’s terrain, make plans for future skinning and skiing and get schooled by the spry canine’s that joined us. At the top, some of us practiced some Snow-ga to get ready for our Apres-hike yoga session.
.
After the hike, some of the ladies stuck around and stretched their tired muscles with a yoga session as we had the lodge to ourselves. Tracy lead a session that would help open the hips and hamstrings. It was a great pre-season day at Magic to get everyone even more excited for opening day!
Great news is we’ll be back at Magic on March 8th for a Get The Girls Out, so save the date! I can’t wait!
