Being a regional volunteer for SheJumps is a great way to give back to your local community. With our new online event format, our impact can also be scaled to a broader population; so there’s more Girafficorn magic to go around! SheJumps relies on regional volunteers to fulfill our mission through programs and events across the United States.
2020 was a wild year for us, and when we canceled in-person programs last March we also decided to put a hold on recruitment for new volunteers. As we look forward to 2021, we’ve changed our volunteer recruitment process to incorporate feedback from our team members and reflect our changing needs as the world around us continues to be in flux.
SheJumps' Team Structure
SheJumps is a nonprofit organization with a board of directors, a staff of three, and more than 80 regional volunteers coast to coast. Our regional teams are led by Regional Directors and Regional Coordinators. The Regional Coordinators manage the volunteers in a specific state, while the Regional Director position is meant to oversee a larger area.

To apply
The SheJumps volunteer application process may take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. It’s recommended that you use a desktop or laptop computer for the application. At this time, we are unfortunately not able to provide accessibility options for visually-impaired applicants.
Our goal for this application process is to provide you, the applicant, with more information about SheJumps’ mission, vision, values, and impact in an engaging format. This will help us select motivated and passionate individuals to join our team. We also hope it helps you to decide if volunteering with us is a good fit for you, too.
Volunteers apply using this form. A major focus of the application is for us to learn about your connection to our cause. We call this your “your big why". What makes you want to be a part of the SheJumps team? This motivation is different for everyone, and our differences make us stronger!
After we receive your application, our regional team leaders and staff will review the applications. In some cases, we might follow up with a request for a quick 15 minute chat about your application.
We’ll review applications January 29 - February 4 and then our goal is to have new team members join us for a kick-off/welcome online event on Tuesday, February 9.
Selected volunteers go through a series of online training modules that can be completed any day of the week, with some opportunities for virtual happy hours, live Q & A sessions, etc. This will span over 6-8 weeks so we don't overwhelm new team members with everything all at once.
We're especially excited to bring passionate team members on board in anticipation of our Global Initiative for the 10th Annual SheJumps Get the Girls Out event for International Women’s Day on March 5-7, 2021.

So, what’s it like to volunteer with SheJumps?
Signing up to be a national volunteer for our organization (in any role) requires a minimum one-year commitment, depending on the role. It’s not your typical stuff-envelopes and lick-stamps kind of volunteer role. At SheJumps, we ask that our volunteers are self-starters, capable of applying their passion for our mission to our already-created event toolkits/templates for an impactful experience for participants.
Time commitment varies depending on the time of year, but we work hard to make the experience as seamless and easy as possible for our team members. Typical monthly expectations are as follows:

Regional Directors & Regional Coordinators
Monthly calls with team members (30 min) plus an additional 5 to 10 hours per month of administrative and leadership support. One (1) hour-long National Director call per month for organizational updates. The time commitment for this role varies by season. Think of Spring/Fall as 'planning' periods, with Winter/Summer as 'activation' periods.
We are recruiting for:
- Regional Director in the Intermountain Region (role description: http://bit.ly/3n8vnH5)
- Regional Coordinator in Colorado & Oregon (role description: http://bit.ly/2Xd4GXb)
Event Coordinators
Event coordinators are our boots-on-the-ground initiators. We think the title says it all, but the role of the Event Coordinators is to plan SheJumps events! We require a 6 to 8 week lead time for events and we provide the template/toolkit. Planning events (with our support) takes roughly 10 to 15 total hours per event. We ask for EC’s to host two (2) templated events per year with the opportunity for additional events on behalf of our mission after the baseline requirement has been met. Some EC's host up to six events per year. We are firm on the minimum of two events, though.
We provide guidelines on what the event will be and provide all the assets needed to make it successful. EC's should be ready to take the torch and run with it!

Brand Ambassadors
The Brand Ambassador position is new for SheJumps in 2021! This position is rooted in digital media, so we do require that Brand Ambassadors have Instagram and Facebook accounts. You do not need to have a huge amount of followers or online friends to be successful in this role! It’s really about expanding awareness about the SheJumps mission. We ask Brand Ambassadors for a minimum of bi-monthly content amplification (national content) and then additional posts that promote local events. This is done through personal social media as well as through our Regional FB groups, with additional networking encouraged. (We teach that!) Basically, Brand Ambassador's help us get the word out about our mission, our events, and our fundraising campaigns. We provide all the content to do this and we also train you on how to build your own content! - We are recruiting for the Brand Ambassador role in all active states (role description: http://bit.ly/2Lbuqk9)
Teamwork makes the Dream Work
When you put these roles together, you start to see how SheJumps works! Above all else, we are a team. We have developed these roles with the idea of "many hands make light work." After all, inspiring thousands of women and girls to get outside is important work! Because we are a team, we ask our volunteers to be flexible. For example, there will be overlap between the Event Coordinator and Brand Ambassador sometimes. While the Brand Ambassador's main role is to amplify the message and events of SheJumps; we'll still need the Event Coordinator to promote events. Speaking of events, some Brand Ambassadors might want to host a grassroots event or two; this is where the Regional Coordinator helps to map out the priorities and opportunities in an area and provide additional guidance where needed.
What are some of the perks of being a SheJumps volunteer?
Make a difference for women and girls across the country: our programs are designed to encourage girls and women to get out of their comfort zone and try new things in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Professional and personal development: we are a grassroots organization that wants to provide more opportunities for volunteers to grow as an individual and as a leader—no matter what role you have in the organization. We actually require that our volunteers attend Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops to magnify the impact and importance of our mission. We see this as a way to also support people's personal development and hope that it spans into other areas of their life as well.
Event planning experience: volunteering for SheJumps is a great way to gain experience in the field of event planning and management
Growing your circle of influence for a good cause: Volunteering as a brand ambassador is a fantastic way to use social media to make a difference and amplify the message of SheJumps.
