This is the second year that we have organized the Winter Stoke Tune up at the K2 HQ in Seattle – and once again it was a blast! The event Sold Out! Crazy rainy weather and traffic didn’t stop 50 ladies from showing up on Thursday, December 3rd to get their skis/boards tuned and waxed on this wonderful evening. It was great to see ladies excited to learn more about how to properly take care of their gear as well as meet new friends! Thanks to all who came out and supported SheJumps – especially all the new ladies.
We started the evening with a quick introduction about SheJumps, our mission and upcoming events. Alyssa, our friend at K2, gave ladies an overview of K2 Ski Alliance and their upcoming International Women Ski day events happening on December 12th, a tradition that brings women all over the world together to ride and have fun with their girlfriends. As the introductions finished, the keg of Elysian Immortal IPA was tapped and the tuning started – nothing better then some local delicious brews fueling us on this rainy Thursday.
Big thanks to Jesse Cartwright from Mountain shop at Crystal for joining and providing us with waxing/tuning equipment. A shout-out to Feathered Friends and K2 for providing us wax!
Ladies also had the opportunity to go on a tour of the K2 Head Quarters and see where the magic happens: a place of innovation when it comes to boots, skis and other various K2 products.
Austin, a K2 engineer, gave ladies a brief presentation on how boot fitting works and what are some of the characteristics that should be looked for in a boot if anyone is looking to buy a new pair this season.
Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain and Summit at Snoqualmie representatives were present at the event getting ladies stoked on the upcoming winter season. The forecast for the next week in the Pacific North West is looking strong and we are all snow dancing every day in our excitement for this winter season. Each of the resorts donated awesome prices for the raffle as well! As you can see from the photo below, the stoke for the prizes was high!
K2 also donated awesome prizes for the raffle including goggles, poles and skis. Christine below, the lucky winner of the K2 Empress – look at that pretty graphic!
Thanks to Ski Journal, Krave and Ibex for the support as well!
Join us this weekend for IWSD at a mountain that is local to you. This year Stevens Pass and Crystal Mountain both have official events scheduled. Don’t have an official event on your local mountain yet – call up your girlfriends and make your own!
