On 10/21 we invited our community to celebrate the life and memory of SheJumps' long time volunteer, staff, and community member, Tracy Hyde. 10/21/1975 - 7/5/2024
We invited our community to honor Tracy Hyde’s memory by sharing stories, memories, and reflections through a dedicated form—because her impact deserves to be remembered forever. The responses to these forms will be featured here on this blog, creating a lasting, living tribute to Tracy’s life and legacy. If you’d like to contribute your memories, you can still access the form here. Thank you for helping us preserve Tracy’s spirit in a way that will inspire others for years to come.
"Tracy helped me find confidence as a leader in a new role—through her actions and words of support, and by her calm way of leading by example. She helped connect me to so many other women through adventures in the
outdoors!." -Maggie, SheJumps Volunteer
A living memorial for Tracy
Tracy was one of our first volunteers, ever. To keep her memory and impact alive, we will be sharing people's stories and tributes of Tracy on this blog.
"Tracy’s passion for the outdoors and for giving back was truly part of her - we worked together on several projects that she brought passion, love and joy into." -Mandi
About Tracy Hyde
Tracy joined the SheJumps volunteer team early in 2013 when she applied to be an ambassador for our brand new regional volunteer program. We had very few applicants in the Northeast, so we asked Tracy if she would consider being a Regional Coordinator (leader) instead of an ambassador, and she eagerly accepted! She helped organize the first ever Get the Girls Out! event on the east coast and oversaw the burgeoning growth of SheJumps in that area.
A couple of years later, SheJumps was growing significantly and Tracy saw an opportunity to support through partnerships. With a fledgling budget of just a few thousand dollars, SheJumps was able to compensate Tracy (barely) to oversee partnerships; Tracy was one of SheJumps' first-ever staff members! Tracy organized raffle prizes to be shipped all over the country and traveled to Utah to work with our Executive Director, Claire Smallwood, on pitching partners at the Outdoor Retailer tradeshow, landing significant cash and in-kind contributions from outdoor brands. Tracy was softspoken but knew how to connect with humans, inviting them to be part of our mission.
When Tracy had another job opportunity come up (that could definitely pay her a bit more!) she resigned from SheJumps but stayed close to the community. She has always been (and always will be) a part of our mission. We would not be where we are today without Tracy. Thank you, Tracy.
We never really know the impact that we can have on the world; but Tracy's impact was clear. She cared deeply for the people around her and for her community. Her legacy will endure through SheJumps and we will keep her memory alive in everything we do.
Please share a Tracy memory using the button below; we will share it here so that more people can understand the strength of our community.
